As a new widow, Barbara has had many new insights into the grief journey. Her decades of expertise in her work in end of life has been focused on approaching death. Grief has been an afterthought, not a primary issue. Now with her husband Jack’s death, she has come to know how powerful grief is. She discusses her new epiphanies here with Susan Barber of The EKR Foundation's Outreach Program.

I lost my husband June 30th, learned I am an instrumental griever. lol. This has been so informative as I was thinking I’m so bad/different/selfish/I also wish I would have been more emotional too.

Hi Diane, I’m learning grief is shown and worked through in many, many ways. Most of our expressions are normal, natural, not pathological—-we just don’t know it. Blessings to you. Barbara
