I was asked a question from a woman whose mother is on hospice care and I thought I would share my response. The question was "My mother has stopped eating. Why isn't the hospice staff making my mother eat?".
When there isn't end of life education on the normal, natural way people die, the family will believe a common myth that hospice starved their loved one. Simply offering Gone From My Sight and flipping to the page on eating and hydration the family will relax and understand. (And CAHPS scores will be better too.)
